[It is my sole intention within my art to pay homage and to draw attention to the extreme capabilities of the Japanese artists and carvers of the Japanese woodblock prints of the 16th, 17th,and 18th centuries. The exquisite details preserved on rice paper for us to look at today were produced on paper usually no larger than 10 x 15 inches. The amount of detail produced by the artist and carvers to be shown in this size shows a high level of artistic ability in both the artist and the carver. My experience with all woodblock prints is that you have to view them at a very close range to see all of the detail. The well preserved prints display beautiful colors and finishes. At times the artist would use a metallic finish called mica, a fine metallic finish, on some of the materials. My goal is to produce the same image in a much larger format, using metallic finishes, preserving all the detail, which I believe was intended by the artist.]
